چکیده

Semiparametric regression is a generalization of the general linear model where the effects of some predictors are modeled nonparametrically, for example, as splines or Gaussian processes. Powerful R packages are now available that allow many semiparametric regression models to be fit easily. For more complex semiparametric regression models, a Bayesian analysis using Stan, which can be run from R, is possible. This course will cover univariate smoothing, additive models, bivariate smoothing, spatial models, grouped data, interaction models, random effects, quantile regression, and non-Gaussian responses. Aurore Delaigle Tutorial Title: Nonparametric Curve and Density Estimation with Measurement Error Abstract: We will introduce nonparametric kernel–based density and regression estimators that are valid when the data are contaminated by additive random measurement errors. We will discuss the main principles for constructing consistent estimators in this context, and show that often a solution can be found more easily by working in the Fourier domain. The estimators involved the choice of one or several smoothing parameters, and we will discuss ways of choosing them in a data–driven way. Carroll Title: Building a Data-Based Healthy Eating Index Abstract: The Healthy Eating Index-2005 (HEI-2005) and the Healthy Eating Index-2010 (HEI-2010), are multi-component dietary quality indices involving ratios of interrelated dietary components to energy. They were built by nutritionists based on USDA dietary recommendations, and have applied across many cancers and mortality to show links to diet and health. We build a new dietary index by using health outcome data from the NIH-AARP Study of Diet and Health, including lung, colorectal, and prostate cancers in men and lung, colorectal, breast and ovarian cancers in women. Technically, the tools involve a unique single-index modeling framework. The actual data are based on a food frequency questionnaire, which is known to be biased for usual intake and have considerable measurement error. I will outline a possible approach to accounting for the bias an measurement error in these data. Titles versus titles and abstracts for initial screening of articles for systematic reviews

BACKGROUND There is no consensus on whether screening titles alone or titles and abstracts together is the preferable strategy for inclusion of articles in a systematic review. METHODS TWO METHODS OF SCREENING ARTICLES FOR INCLUSION IN A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW WERE COMPARED: titles first versus titles and abstracts simultaneously. Each citation found in MEDLINE or Embase was reviewed by two physic...

Active ingredients are reported more often for pharmacologic than non-pharmacologic interventions: an illustrative review of reporting practices in titles and abstracts

Key components of healthcare interventions include 'active ingredients' (intervention components that can be specifically linked to effects on outcomes such that, were they omitted, the intervention would be ineffective). These should be reported in titles and abstracts of published reports of randomized controlled trials (RCTs). However, reporting of non-pharmacologic interventions (NPIs), par...

Performance Analysis Of Mono-bit Digital Instantaneous Frequency Measurement (Difm) Device

Instantaneous Frequency Measurement (IFM) devices are the essential parts of anyESM, ELINT, and RWR receiver. Analog IFMs have been used for several decades. However, thesedevices are bulky, complex and expensive. Nowadays, there is a great interest in developing a wideband, high dynamic range, and accurate Digital IFMs. One Digital IFM that has suitably reached allthese requirements is mono-bi...

BANFF WORKSHOP ON “DIOPHANTINE METHODS, LATTICES, AND ARITHMETIC THEORY OF QUADRATIC FORMS”: TITLES AND ABSTRACTS 1. Hour-long talks

Eva Bayer-Fluckiger (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne) Title: Galois algebras, Hasse principle and induction-restriction methods Abstract: The aim of this talk is to survey old and new results on self-dual normal bases and more generally invariants of Galois algebras. Particular attention will be given to local-global principles. Some of the results make use of an inductionrestriction m...

Who? What? Where? A snapshot of Nuclear Medicine Research Presentations from recent ANZSNM conferences in Australia and New Zealand.

Objective(s): The aims of this study were to: 1) discover location (by city) of contributors to poster and oral presentations at recent ANZSNM conferences; 2) determine the nuclear medicine themes most commonly explored; 3) establish institutions producing the highest number of oral and poster abstracts and 4) determine publication rates of conference abstracts to full...
